We went to Maui to film this story about how Rebecca heals people in the presence of whales.  This short includes footage of whales from Maui and The Kingdom of Tonga. Confession: it was the idea of swimming with whales and producing this story that launched the larger concept of an ongoing online film series designed to reconnect people to the natural world. It felt important to make this film one of the first pieces we worked on as it offers a new story about the way we speak about how whales and people interact. It goes beyond the tales of massacre and near-extinction to something entirely different. Since 1972, there has been an extraordinary phenomenon of whales choosing to make contact with people. Rebecca suggests we consider the idea that just like some people choose to be healers/medical practitioners, such is the same with whales and dolphins. Some of these mammals choose to come near people to offer their healing abilities. How you ask? Well…we can’t give away all the goods right here! That’s what our completed film will be about!
