This private home in a former industrial area in the center of Leiden , the Netherlands, is designed by Pasel.Kuenzel . Its design addresses two main needs of the households in the city : light and space. The house is divided into two parts , easily recognizable because of differences in the materials used on the facades . The first , larger part contains the bedrooms and a living room and has very high windows that fill the interior with natural sunlight . The second part is long and narrow and contains service areas , bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room and the stairs. The roof is not flat but slightly inclined to let more light in the rooms and allow people to see the stars and has covered the roof garden of sight of neighbors and people in the street.
