Numerous brick palaces and castles built in the little village in 1990, became one of perhaps the most striking take his time. However, the fashion for bulky structures “in style” quickly passed, and today these homes are increasingly being reconstructed. That such a project just completed office ADM, which has managed to turn Pseudoclassical mansion piece of modern architecture. “I look at this house and I understand that to live in it can not!” – With these words in the Office ADM came next customer. The mansion, more like a scaled-down model of a medieval castle with many towers, it has acquired, primarily due to convenient location and availability of infrastructure in the village, but at first thought that did not favor his architecture as something you can live with. But very quickly it became clear that the exaggerated copy of the lock does not correspond to the tastes and needs of the business person beginning of the XXI century, it was decided to reconstruct and transform the mansion into an aesthetically attractive, functional and comfortable home for permanent residence outside the city.
Architects have developed three different versions of the reconstruction, each in its own way develops the idea of ??a country house. It is important that each of them was based on constructive scheme already constructed building – the architects were interested to explore it in terms of forming shapes, and the customer, this approach ensured a substantial cost savings. The first option involved the reconstruction of the transformation of “castle” in the mansion with a hip roof in the style of “Prairie Houses” Frank Lloyd Wright. From the grandiose buildings architects have left only the brick parallelepiped, which built a small wooden volumes. The second option – a house consisting of three cubes made of different materials: brick, stekloprofilite and wood. This option is best liked by the authors, however, as recognized by the office manager ADM Andrei Romanov, they have from the outset there were doubts in the House, whether they do or is it a museum of modern architecture.
The third option of reconstruction, which customers eventually and preferred, method also uses a combination of cubic volume, this time one-and two-storey. Structural scheme of the existing house, as already mentioned, left unchanged, but the hipped roof architects replace flat, bay windows are cut off, and the internal space is completely rescheduled to the needs of new owners. And it is so radically changing the face of the cottage, which, comparing it to photos of the reconstruction and 3D-rendering after, the most difficult to believe that it is one and the same house. Center of the composition renewed mansion becomes the winter garden – a two-storey glass prism, disclosed in the local area. At the lower level houses a living room with fireplace, on the top – the library. Transparent volume is intended not only to improve the performance insolyatsionnye premises, but also to emphasize the open nature of the updated home. In addition, the massive glass “Box” creates a very interesting contrast of materials, as well as public and private spaces. All other facades are faced with light wood, a visual lightness that balances the belt of natural stone, framing the roof.
All three variants of reconstruction of the house combines the presence of an elongated one-storey extension to it. The appearance of this volume is due immediately for two reasons: Customers like to have a freestanding bath, and architects looking for a way to better integrate the house into the site, which does not grow any tree, and no additional buildings. “Castle” in the middle of this wasteland looked very very foreign objects, but sheathed wood cubes, it seems as if grow from the earth – first storey, and then double-decker. In the annexe, place your own bath and pool, which owes its size and elongated rectangular shape. The main house is united terrace has a roof but without walls. This “constant” of this transition makes the whole structure visually light and almost transparent, likening her bower, which was lacking on this site. The rooftop terrace will be divided into a small garden, to whom a panoramic glass bedroom.
This project office ADM failed to prove that even in post-Soviet era buildings illiquid megalomania has a future. With the help of simple architectural techniques of their appearance can not just modernize, but to change dramatically. And if we consider that reconstruction always cheaper than demolition and new home construction from scratch, then the project can be considered as ADM is also a great anti-crisis proposal.
