Dyes Inlet House – Mixed Structure and Variety of Materials

This family home is located west of the city of Seattle, in a vast terrain with slight slopes on several buildings spread formed by the main house, a studio / garage, boat shed and a pier. The layout of the buildings is done with a very unique organization of the space between them, especially between the studio and main building comprises the dwelling itself. The rooms in the house are divided into two floors, leaving the north side for more public areas, and south to the bedrooms. Both bodies are joined by a walkway that runs along the glass facade of the entrance, from which you can see the whole double-height space that forms the living room. This is where a special importance the stone wall which forms the chimney, against another low-rise concrete. These walls appear in several sites of this project, even in the water sheets axis ordering the main area of garden at the back prepared as barbecue. The House Dyes Inlet has a mixed structureof steel and wood, in some detail because you have too much presence of all these bolts of union, but it is also true that the appearance of other materials (concrete and stone) to some extent this distracts effect. Especially nice is the separate building which houses the garage, with the studio right on the top floor, also with highly glazed façade. Although floor plans explain very well all the management / distribution of high and low plants, has been to know the ‘secret’ basement, which is sure the building connects underground garage in the house (the photo of the main staircase so indicated.
